POSC 31903 U.S. Intelligence Bureaucracy

Prerequisites: Junior Standing. This class broadly covers the history and structure of the U.S. intelligence community. We will study the history of intelligence collection in the U.S. from George Washington to the present and learn about the structure of the Central Intelligence Agency and the functions of the different units. We will also grapple with the challenges, tradeoffs, and ethics of intelligence collection in a democratic society that values transparency, accountability, and human rights
