COMM 31213 Rhetoric: From Ancient Rome to Modern Oratory

Prerequisites: COMM majors/minors only, or permission of department; COMM 10123 or COMM 10133. Examination of the major concepts in rhetorical theory. By studying on location, emphasis is placed on understanding the conceptions of rhetoric in antiquity, identifying how these inform historical and contemporary rhetorical acts, and evaluating the persuasive techniques used to compel audiences in a variety of social, political, and religious contexts.
