HIST 30413 History of Russia from 1861 to the Present

The forces and personalities that molded modern Russia after the emancipation of the serfs, the revolutionary movements and their leaders, and the economic and political factors that brought the downfall of the czarist regime. Special attention to the Marxist-Leninist doctrine and the Soviet attempt to implement it, Stalinism, the emergence of rival communist states, and the post-Stalin era. (EU)
