ITAL 30143 French and Italian Traditions in Opera and Literature
This cross-disciplinary course explores and compares French and Italian culture through the theme of famous operas based on French literature. Students will study works of writers such as Victor Hugo and Alexandre Dumas fils, and composers Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini through educational excursions and performances in historic sites. The course provides for independent research projects and language instruction in Italian and French.
