ITAL 30073 Italian Theater

Prerequisites: ITAL 30053 or ITAL 30063. This course explores exemplary works of Italian theater from the 16th to the 20th century with the goal of providing students with an introduction to the canonical texts of the Italian theatrical tradition. Plays by Machiavelli, Goldoni, Manzoni, Mascagni, and Pirandello will be read, discussed, and performed in the class in order to aid students in their continuing development of Italian language skills. The course is taught in Italian; all reading will be in Italian.
