PSYC 40503 Psychological Disorders and Creativity

Prerequisites: PSYC 10213 or 10514 or 10524. This course will examine mental illness from a cross-cultural and creative perspective. Topics include cross-cultural differences in historical conceptualizations of mental illness, current government policies aimed at mental illness, examination of treatment and use of art (e.g., painting: Vincent Van Gogh, writing: Virginia Woolf) as a means of creativity in mental illness.
