NURS 40592 Nursing Care of Neonate

Prerequisites: Only nursing students in the senior II status may take this course. This course is designed to be a two hour lecture once a week with a preceptor led clinical observation component (comprised of 12 hours). This is an elective for senior II students. In the class meetings we examine the most common health conditions of neonates in the neonatal intensive care unit. The students will learn the principles and knowledge of care of a neonate. Students will have the opportunity to observe care in the neonatal intensive care setting that will reinforce the application of principles and knowledge necessary for interdisciplinary care of neonates and their families.
