ENGL 40573 Mark Twain

Prerequisites: ENGL 10803, ENGL 20803, and at least one 10000- or 20000-level ENGL/WRIT/CRWT course. The seminar will focus on the life and works of Mark Twain. Readings will include several of his major novels, a broad sampling of his short stories, and a selection of his essays and letters. Attention will be given to both the historical and contemporary contexts that have shaped the reception of Twain's writing.
