ENGL 20203 Girls' Studies
Girls' Studies examines the experiences and representation of girls in the U.S. and global cultures through various feminist theoretical lenses and considers girlhood as a gender category worthy of academic analysis. Using academic and popular texts - including those produced in literature, online, and via television, film, and music - this course studies the category of girlhood in relation to dominant cultural practices and larger social, institutional, and political transformations.
