FREN 20153 French and Francophone Cultures in Translation

Intensive study of a topic or theme in the cultural productions, politics, and structures of societies influenced by France. This course introduces students to the methods used within cultural, social, and literary studies, including the development of critical reading and writing skills for upper level seminars. No prerequisite. Course is taught in English translation and encourages students to think transnationally and to understand that significant relationships exist between and among countries beyond and independent of the United States. May be repeated for credit as topic changes.
