ECON 40493 Macroeconomic Analysis and Communication

Prerequisites: A 'C-' in ECON 30233 and a 'C-' in INSC 20153, MATH 10043, or 30853. Introduces students to advanced theories of the business cycle, inflation, and other macroeconomic phenomena and shows them how to interpret real world data in the context of those theories with the goal of explaining and predicting trends. Students are further instructed on the art of communicating their findings to specific non-economist audiences in terms of the latter¿s genre conventions, content expectations, and language dynamics. The class culminates with the creation of a report on contemporary macroeconomic conditions that will be shared publicly online.
