Department of Design

The Department of Design administers the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design, the Bachelor of Science degree in design studies, the Bachelor of Science degree in interior design, a minor in design of the built environment and a minor in architectural lighting design.

A minimum of 78 semester hours is required for the BFA in graphic design; a minimum of 42 semester hours is required for the BS in design studies, a minimum of 68 semester hours is required for the BS in interior design;  a minimum of 20 semester hours is required for the design of the build environment minor; a minimum of 18 semester hours is required for the architectural design minor. Minimum Grade Requirement

The Department of Design requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 at all times.

Departmental Requirements

A minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA in design is a prerequisite to junior and senior-level departmental courses. After entrance into upper-division courses, a minimum 2.5 GPA must be maintained to advance. An annual qualifying portfolio examination is required for all students wishing to continue in the Graphic Design Program, whether or not they are graphic design/design studies majors or minors; contingencies may include the student being required to repeat courses or removal from the Graphic Design/Design Studies Program.
