Communication Studies, BS/BA

Requirements

The BS with a major in communication studies consists of 124 semester hours with 36 hours in communication studies, including the four required courses:

Students pursuing the BS degree must also complete 9 hours of 40000 level COMM electives as well as MATH 10043 or INSC 20153 with a grade of “C” (2.0 GPA) or higher.

Note: Students must complete COMM 20113 and COMM 20223 with a combined GPA of 2.5 to take COMM 30163. Students must complete COMM 30163 with a grade of “C” (2.0 GPA) or higher prior to taking any 40000 level courses.

Additional requirements include a minor of 18 semester hours or a second major, plus core curriculum requirements.

The BA with a major in communication studies consists of 124 semester hours with 27 hours in communication studies, including the four required courses:

It is expected that these four courses will be completed within the first 18 hours of COMM coursework.

Note: Students must complete COMM 20113 and COMM 20223 with a combined GPA of 2.5 or higher to enroll in COMM 30163.

Additional requirements include the BA language requirement, a minor of 18 semester hours or a second major, plus core curriculum requirements.
