2017-2018 Graduate Catalog

Educational Leadership, MBA/Ed.D.

Admission and Degree Requirements

Candidates must be admitted to both TCU's MBA Program and the Ed.D. Program in the College of Education. They also must meet all 36 hours of core requirements as well as the START Workshop. At the completion of the first year of the MBA program, students may elect to begin taking coursework in the Ed.D. program. The Educational Leadership doctorate is a 60-hour program. The Higher Education Leadership Doctorate is a 63-hour program. After completing 42 hours in the College of Education, the student schedules comprehensive examinations (see the Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership Policies and Procedures Handbook for complete details). Upon successful completion of the comprehensive exams, and upon successful defense of the capstone or dissertation proposal, the student will be admitted to candidacy. In the event a student elects to complete the MBA without continuing into the doctoral program, he/she must meet all remaining requirements for the MBA. If a student’s work is unsatisfactory in MBA courses, and he/she is not permitted to continue, he/she may be permitted to commence the Ed.D. Program.
