Department of Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies

Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies (CRES) critically examines race and ethnicity as an essential competency for becoming ethical citizens and leaders in today’s global community. An academic and community-oriented program, CRES values respect, inclusiveness, creative expression, dialogue, engagement, inquiry and academic excellence.

The department offers a major on the BA degree in Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies, minors in CRES, African American and Africana Studies (AAAS), and Latinx Studies (LTNX), as well as emphases in CRES and AAAS. The minors and emphases are available for both the BA and BS degrees.  

Honors College

CRES majors who plan to pursue Departmental Honors must be members of the Honors College and should contact the program director to arrange for Honors contracts to supplement CRES 30003 and CRES 40003.
