Post-Graduate Certificates

A post-graduate certificate option is available in all majors for nurses with a previous PhD or a DNP from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited program. At this time, we are only accepting Texas and New Mexico residents.

The amount of coursework required for the post-graduate APRN certificates (CNS and NP roles) and other roles is determined by a gap analysis of previously-completed course work in your master's of doctorate of nursing practice degree, when the course work was completed, and Texas Board of Nursing (BON) requirements. 

Admission Requirements

     Completed online application that includes:

  • One official transcript from all colleges and universities attended with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) from the baccalaureate nursing program. (International transcripts should be sent with an evaluation from a transcript credentialing service.)
  • Resume or curriculum vita
  • Personal statement-should demonstrate written communications skills, not be more than 2 pages double spaced and should address specific personal, academic and/or professional strengths and/or accomplishments and how these qualify you as a strong candidate for the Post-Graduate APRN Certificate Program, and why you are interested in a post-graduate certificate from TCU.
  • Three professional references (should be from a supervisor, previous faculty, or other professional reference)

     BSN from an accredited school or university

•     PhD or a DNP from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited program

 

     Current unencumbered licensure in the state of Texas or the state in which practicum coursework will occur

     Current CPR certification and immunizations

•     Applicants for whom English is a second language: a score of at least 600 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
